Science and "The Church"

Edgar Mitchell was the sixth man who walked on the moon. Together with Alan Shepard and Stuart Roosa, he was part of the crew of Apollo 14, which took off from Cape Kennedy on January 31, 1971 and landed in the South Pacific on February 9, 1971. It was a triumph of engineering, science, training and management, obtained under pressure of technological competition. Back then, their understanding of human consciousness was a goal without a stakes too high. Not to Edgar Mitchell.
Today, Mitchell, over the past 80 years, remained the last member alive crew. What is good for mankind, since the post-Apollo years he has dedicated his life to a journey more complex. In June 2011, Edgar Mitchell became the seventh person accepted into the prestigious Leonardo da Vinci Society for the Study thinking during a ceremony at the University of Advanced Technology in Tempe. From this society physicist Dr. Michio Kaku part, futurist Ray Kurzweil technologist, psychologist Dr. Edward de Bono, Dr. Fritjof Capra, author of books about Taoism and physics, Dr. Lynn Margulis, an exponent of the theory of Gaia and Dr. Margaret J. Wheatley, who investigates speed changes in our society. The reason for choosing Edgar Mitchell is not only that it is holder of a PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT or founded after leaving NASA in 1972, the Institute of Noetic Sciences and more recently, the Institute Quantrek oriented energy exploitation Point zero. Most significantly, Mitchell has developed a new cosmology and has proposed to change the way we see ourselves in relation to the reality around us.

Edgar Mitchell's goal is to correct what he considered a defect induced in the early 17th century that Western scientific thought placed in a box materialistic, stopping such laws to more fully understand the
universe. Edgar Mitchell is convinced that the best minds of our civilization not think comprehensively. How long will it be so, mankind as a species will go toward the goal to which we refer evolution.

A series of fundamental human observable phenomena, including consciousness, were bypassed by "great scientists" with no rigorous scientific description today. This happened not because of insufficient evidence of the existence of the phenomenon, but rather the lack of theoretical constructions that could fit in a dominant paradigms of current science. Edgar Mitchell cosmology, which he calls "dyadic model of consciousness', is one of the key components of the concept of" quantum hologram "proposed in 1992 by German mathematician Dr. Walter Schempp.

Quantum Hologram - wrote Edgar Mitchell - the first energy phenomenon directly linking all matter located at the macro scale quantum world. For most of the last century, quantum non-location was considered an artifact of interaction bothersome particles, without any influence on macro-scale world. It was not considered as non-local information could have any use. Now it is clear that, in appropriate circumstances, this is the quantum information available, and useable.

According to Mitchell, in the 17th century, Western European civilization has been a split between science and church thinking. Until then religion was a fundamental organizing principle of society. The intellectuals who had supported the ideas in contradiction with religious doctrine would have been persecuted. When Galileo used the telescope to obtain observational evidence supporting the thesis of Copernicus's
heliocentric, church officials not only refused to look through the telescope at the evidence, but convicted him and heresy. In these circumstances, scientists solution was a Faustian pact with the church. A line of demarcation philosophical consciousness leaves exclusively to religion, science instead given freedom to investigate whatever. Science has thus gained access to chemistry, physics, mathematics, geology, biology and other disciplines that have shaped Western technological civilization. Church remains his spirit, miracles, prayer and presence unseen overseeing everything.

This policy divide, which came to be known as the "Cartesian duality", postulated that mind and matter do not interact and therefore could be considered separately. It was a fatal reductionism, which put obstacle to a holistic understanding of reality for centuries. For over 400 years, consciousness, a fundamental aspect of the universe, thus remained untouchable, beyond the limits of science. The problem is therefore that reality, in full or can not be understood scientifically, until not taken into consideration and consciousness, or, if you're a scientist, you are allowed to take into account consciousness.

Because of the separation of church and science along the border between spirit and matter, observable phenomena "normal" reasonably derived from a quantum holographic model, were erroneously labeled as "paranormal". And implicit stigma associated with everything "paranormal" discouraged scientific minds to investigate a lot of really significant phenomena. The distinction between mind and matter lasted until the twentieth century when quantum mechanics appeared. But even then, most scientists continued to cling to the idea of Cartesian duality. Consciousness still excluded in most of the serious scientific approaches. In this context, Edgar Mitchell seeking what might be called the reunification of spirit and matter.
The interdisciplinary nature of the investigations Mitchell and his team makes it vulnerable to attacks of skeptics might consider his ideas as absurd. Like a blind man trying to describe an elephant's leg just Pipa, many do not have a wide enough understanding to encompass the entire complexity that Mitchell is trying to put together.

Lou Weili PhD, a member of the scientific team Quantrek Institute, wrote in a paper "intrinsic consciousness, which we all have, it is universal among all living beings. It is the basic condition of our conscious experiences, is timeless and irreducible. Reductionism can not be applied to the study of intrinsic consciousness, which represents a challenge to the current "all theories" that knowledge is ignored ".
Mitchell's dyadic model assumes that every human experience, including mystical experience, has a valid information base, so that the information (power configuration, according to) is the root of all perceptions. He agrees that all sciences, from quantum mechanics to paleontology, produced bodies of information available. But dyadic model, science and religious experience are just two different ways of knowing, which uses different brain functions and are "taken dyadic".

Journalist Larry D. Lowe argued in a 2012 article that Mitchell's work could have relevance in understanding the UFO phenomenon, at least two ways. One is the enticing prospect that understanding how consciousness interacts with classical physics and quantum lead to an explanation of the behavior reported in some fantastic and incredible UFO sightings. Recent developments suggest that electromagnetism could play a role in the manifestation of the phenomenon, beyond the idea that control and propulsion systems could be based on an interaction between electromagnetism and gravity undiscovered.

Another connection, more pragmatic, is that Edgar Mitchell is part of a growing population: smart people
who read the literature available, they ran it through their own thinking and concluded that humanity is facing a phenomenon enigmatic - illustrating the words of Arthur C. Clarke - consciousness is so advanced that, often, its manifestations are "indistinguishable from magic." Shares of this consciousness observed and reported higher are often rejected by scientists too limited by the principles set out at the beginning of "the age of reason" and too confident in their intellectual skills to recognize the implications evidence that either will not take them into account, I can not rationalize.

There are indications that a wide range of cosmic consciousness interacts with humanity through various ways and for various reasons. Interaction is done in a hidden and enigmatic and therefore is easily negated by the many who do not bother to look too closely at the existing evidence. Western technological civilization, or at least its political institutions, the media, academia, scientific and military are content to ignore or deny these facts, although they are part of our everyday life.

On the occasion of his acceptance Leonardo da Vinci Society, Dr. Mitchell said once again that he believes in the vast universe there is an advanced intelligence and she already interact with humanity. Some in the US government and industry are aware of this, he said, but did not reveal to the public what they know, controlling the media and constantly refusing to discuss or admit the situation. The reasons are diverse and some of them are very simple.
